THE STORY BEHIND BALLARDIER
The story of Ballardier got its inception back in late 2015 when long time friends and watch enthusiasts Robin Westerling & Mikko Yrjänä both backed a popular watch project on one of the major crowdfunding platforms.They had been comparing notes on which watches to buy for a while and eventually settled on an affordable luxury watch brand that had significantly exceeded its funding goal.
However, after backing the project they were faced with the harsh reality of buying one of these "crowdfunding-project" watches. They faced production delays after production delayes and finally once the watches arrived they were nothing like what they'd been portrayed as on the project page. It was just a horrible experience that both woved never to go through again.
Motivated by their horrible experience, they decided to create their own luxury watch brand and instead of creating a crowdfunding project around it, they took the traditional route of raising the necessary capital from private investors.
The two worked for over a year on carefully designing the watches and fine tuning the manufacturing process to get the quality up to their high standards before pitching their idea to local investors in the mostly tech centered country of Estonia. Though Ballardier wasn't a tech startup, the quality and style of the watches combined with a compelling strategy of selling directly to the consumer, landed the two over 1 million euros in funding to make Ballardier a worldwide brand.
